County Wexford is located in the south-east of Ireland and is easily
accessible from Rosslare Harbour, one of the main docking ports for car & passenger
ferries from the UK. The county shares its border with counties Wicklow, Carlow, Kilkenny
and Waterford. Its main urban centre is the town of Wexford with other centres of
population located at New Ross, Enniscorthy and Gorey. Wexford boasts some of the
country's richest agricultural land as well as very beautiful scenery. The county is
flanked by mountains on its western and northern borders. Miles of sandy beaches can be
found on its borders with the sea. Wexford town has a host of narrow and interesting
streets in its main town which provides harbour to some of Ireland's fishing industry. Tourist attractions and other places to visit include Johnstown Castle, The Irish Agricultural Museum, National Heritage Park, Hook Lighthouse, John F. Kennedy Arboretum, Yola Farmstead Folk Park, Maritime Museum, Ballyhack Castle, Berkeley Forest House Museum, Duncannon Fort, Tintern Abbey and Tintern Abbey Saltmills. |
