County Sligo is situated on the west coast of the Republic of Ireland and provides an excellent starting place for touring the beautiful west coast of Ireland. It has a population of 56,000. Its main town is Sligo with other towns located at Enniscrone, Strandhill and Tubbercurry. County Sligo shares borders with counties Leitrim, Roscommon and Mayo which are also counties worthy of a visit for their beautiful scenery. The Garavogue River runs through Sligo with the Coolera peninsula and Knocknarea on the west side of the county. In the east, Lough Gill presents some very pretty scenery. The Ox Mountains rise in the south with the Dartry Mountains in the north. There is a great choice of things to do in County Sligo including art galleries, theatres, a museum, shops, restaurants & pubs and traditional music. Rosses Point and Strandhill provide great opportunities the keen surfer. County Sligo has a rich history with many places for the visitor to see.
