County Limerick is one of the Republic of Ireland's most popular
counties to visit for tourists and provides an excellent starting place for touring the
west coast of Ireland. It has a population of 192,000. Its main city is Limerick standing
on the banks of the river Rannon with other larger towns located at Newcastle West,
Kilmallock, Adare and Croom. County Limerick shares borders with counties Tipperary,
Clare, Kerry and Cork. The landscape is reasonably flat in the east but is more
mountainous in areas such as the south-east with the Galtree Mountains. Limerick city is
an historic city and there are many buildings of great architectural interest to be seen.
