County Leitrim is situated in the north-west of Ireland with a population
of 25,000. Leitrim borders counties Donegal, Cavan, Longford, Roscommon and Sligo. Its
main urban centre is Carrick-on-shannon with other larger towns located at Manorhamilton,
Mohill, Ballinamore and Drumshanbo. It is a county with a mixture of landscapes although
much of it is comprised on gently rolling hills and bogland. County Leitrim has a small
but charming coastline of only a few miles in length. County Leitrim is one of the smaller
counties in Ireland and is unspoilt by modern day progress. The main tourist attractions and places to visit include Glencar Waterfall, The Costello Memorial Chapel, Sliabh an Iarainn Visitor Centre, Lough Rynn House, The Glens Centre and Parkes Castle. |
