| Description: Nestled in the valley of the Slieveardagh mountains, the little village of Freshford has a population of only a little over six hundred but its history goes back to the early 7th century when St. Lactain founded a church here which has a famous hiberno-romanesque doorway. A ten minute drive takes you to the medieval capital of Ireland, Kilkenny City. Theloke's B&B has been owned and run since 1990 by Frances and Peter Theloke. It's an attractive old building, incorporating a beautifully sculptured Romanesque doorway and porch. with shutters on the first floor windows and an appealing interior with lots of traditional features - a roaring fire warms the hands as well as the heart in the bar. Accommodation at Thelokes B&B is in the form of 2 guest bedrooms, with a hearty breakfast served each morning in the bright and spacious dining room. We have almost completed an additional four en-suite rooms which will be available at the end of September, 2003. Please check back for pictures of the completed rooms. | ||
