County Cavan shares borders with counties Monaghan, Meath, Longford, Roscommon, Leitrim and Fermanagh (Northern Ireland).  Ireland's longest river, the Shannon has its source in County Cavan on the slopes of Cuilcagh Mountain which rises to 2,188 feet. The landscape is diverse and ranges from mountainous areas to low lowing and fertile agricultural land.
